Trained as an illustrator and graphic designer, now living near Aldeburgh on the Suffolk Coast. David takes great inspiration from the classical masters of the Edwardian era. He aspires to give his portraits a strong narrative to the individuals depicted. 

His paintings have attracted national interest and has had work displayed in the RSMA open exhibition. He has also appeared on SKY Portrait Artist of the Year. 

David’s gritty maritime portraits made him an obvious candidate for the East Anglian Group of Marine Artists and in 2024 was made a full member.

Weekdays he gives lessons in traditional oil painting technique from his studio in Theberton.
