My work is an exploration of the tideline- the liminal space between land and sea and the natural and manmade world. It is a place where change happens and which provides the opportunity for transition and intervention.
The experience of walking and beach combing on the Suffolk coast is my inspiration; I aim to tap into our innate sense of wanting to keep these found objects close.
I am interested in how an object acquires meaning and value. The materials used may not be valuable, some may even have been discarded as rubbish, but I find beauty and interest in their individual qualities of colour, shape and surface texture, combined with a sense of their history and associations.
In my work I am exploring the reuse of existing materials and the dialogue between human and natural processes: my own intervention becomes part of the story.
